Hand-felted felt hats from raw wool
Finnish wool and handicrafts
The wool from which WilliWilla's felt hats are made is organic raw wool from Finnish sheep. The wool is not straightened or dyed. It is allowed to retain its own shades and marks – and also a small portion of its own lanolin, which makes the felt soft and helps to naturally repel moisture. Each wool bears a trace of the animal and environment in which it lived – sometimes small dried flowers, hay, or other natural marks from the places where the sheep spent their time are left in the wool.
The hats are felted by hand, without patterns or haste. The work is done by listening to the wool: the material tells what it is capable of and when it is ready. The final result cannot be fully predicted, and that is precisely why every hat is different. The shape, surface, and shade emerge naturally during the handcrafting process.
WilliWilla's felt hats are versatile. They are suitable for the sauna, ice swimming, and hot tubs, but also for winter days outdoors, forest excursions, and even mushroom picking. The wool breathes, protects, and adapts to its use.
At WilliWilla, perfection or mass production is not pursued. More important are authenticity, the joy of craftsmanship, and nature's own rhythm. When you choose a WilliWilla hat, you choose a unique, handmade product that reflects the material, the maker, and the moment it was created.
