North Star – Handfelted Sauna Hat

The dark brown wool is deep and vibrant. Subtly lighter, longer fibres run through the shade – like a memory of a meadow or a forest edge where the sheep has wandered.

The surface has not been smoothed.

The wool is allowed to show its character, the small variations and natural roughness.

The felting was done by hand, with warm water and Marseille soap. Calm movement has bound the fibres together. The shape has formed by listening to the wool, not by hurrying.

The brim of the hat is softly folded. It forms small, textured arches at the front – like eyebrows that give a face its character. The surface is strong and honest.

A large light brown star marking adorns the crown. It sits clearly and calmly against the dark base. Like a mark that shows its own direction.

This hat is unique. The shade, the fibre, and the star are never exactly the same.

It goes to the sauna and ice hole. To the warmth of the hot tub, a winter forest, and frosty air. With the quiet certainty of a champion.

Production: Hand-felted with Marseille soap in Salo, Southwest Finland

Care: Air out after use. Light hand-cleaning if needed. Do not machine wash.

Feature: The wool naturally contains some lanolin, which helps repel moisture and keeps the felt soft.

Lifecycle: Fully natural and biodegradable material – when the time comes, the hat can be composted.
