Huurre (Frost)

This felt hat has been born from natural white organic raw wool of the Finnish Landrace sheep. The surface shade is soft and vibrant – warm brown tones run through the white, and a brown marking sits on the brow, like frost on a quiet morning. The wool has not been dyed or industrially smoothed. It is allowed to keep its own shades and markings, exactly as they were out on the pasture.

The felting was done by hand with Marseille soap, warm water, and calm movement. The work has progressed by listening to the wool, without patterns or haste.

The shape has been allowed to settle gradually, at its own pace. The neck-protecting design offers gentle shelter and warmth. The felt drapes softly and shields against the wind as well. Every hat is unique and cannot be made the same way twice.

Huurre is suited for the sauna, the ice hole, and the warmth of a hot tub. It accompanies you on winter day excursions and quiet frosty mornings. The felt breathes and adapts to its use. The wool also retains a small amount of its own lanolin, which naturally helps repel moisture and keeps the surface soft.

Lifecycle: Fully natural and biodegradable material – when the time comes, the hat can be composted.
