Snowflake – Handfelted Sauna Hat

This felt hat is crafted from natural white organic raw Finnish Landrace wool. The surface has a pale, vibrant, subtly marbled tone. Soft brown and grey hues run through the white, like shades resting beneath the snow. The wool is neither dyed nor industrially treated. It retains its own markings and natural character.

The felting was done by hand with Marseille soap, warm water, and gentle movements. The work has progressed by listening to the wool, without patterns or haste. The thin and light structure makes the surface almost translucent in light – like the moment before a snowflake touches the ground.

The brown snowflake pattern placed on the side gives the hat its name. No two snowflakes are exactly alike. Each hat is born in its own moment, as its own individual.

Hiutale is suited for the sauna, the ice hole, and the warmth of a hot tub. It accompanies you on winter excursions and in quiet forests. The felt breathes and adapts to its use. The wool also retains a small amount of its own lanolin, which naturally helps repel moisture and keeps the surface soft.
